An exquisite rare and massive salute cannon model, in an estimated 1:5 scale, probably made by the end of XIX, early XX century. It depicts a late 1762 12-pdr, probably a Maritz II fieldpiece cannon model under Louis XV, with a nicely aged patina bronze barrel shaped as a truncated cone, with moulded muzzle, provided with acanthus leaf-shaped handles, cylindrical trunnions with vent hole, with reduced decoration as ordered in 1759 by Marshal de Broglie to light and rebore the previous M1732 Vallière guns. Cascabel knob of spherical shape. Movable, wooden shaft with massive rayed wheels and iron mounts. Beautiful golden royal 'fleur de lys' adorn the cheeks as it was in use under Louis XV. Total lenght with carriage 72cm, bronze barrel alone weights 4 kgs.

An unqiue feature of this model is the finely engraved wooden barrel stand with the coat of arms of Louis XV,
the 'fleur de lys' and the motto "LUDOVICUS XV REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS MDCCLXII".
