Obice Toscano "Il Canis" (Italian Howitzer), 1746
Tuscan 174mm 6.8" howitzer.
1:17 scale.

The "Canis" was a 174mm calibre light howitzer of the Tuscan type, pulled by a team of horses, very easy to handle on the battlefield. Like all howitzers it did not have a great range however, in close combat, it proved deadly by virtue of its large caliber. It could be used "a palla" (with iron ball) to demolish protected targets or "a cartoccio" to fire grapeshot or metal splinters. In the latter case it proved deadly against infantry formations which, in the tactics of the time, moved in compact ranks on the ground.

This finely crafted model is partially based on early '70s Mantua model, more accurate and better looking compared to the later productions.

Total lenght with carriage 20cm, large 14cm
